I’m Heather Jensen, a colored pencil artist who loves the process of building an image one layer at a time. For me, there’s something almost magical about watching a blank surface slowly transform through color, texture, patience and countless layers.

Layering It Up was created to share that process with others. Whether you’re just discovering colored pencils or you’ve been creating for years, my goal is to help you understand not only what I’m doing but why I’m doing it.

Here, we’ll explore techniques, materials, color, layering, texture and the little discoveries that make colored-penicl art so rewarding.

Most importantly, I want you to discover that you dont have to be born an artist to create something beautiful. Sometimes you simply need the right techniques, a little patience, a lot of practice and a willingness to keey layering it up.
